    Description

This is a spectacular group of Asian folding fans, consisting of three folding bamboo and linen fans, three black lacquered wooden presentation stands, three tapestry-like embroidered gift boxes and one set of instructions.
These three gorgeous fans measure approximately 9” in length and feature richly-colored and finely detailed designs.
One fan displays a Buddha against a pretty blue background.
Another displays a dragon against a red and black background.
And the last fan features a lovely crane scene.
All three of these fans are signed on the outer bamboo rib with the initials, “H.W.H.”.
Each fan is stored in a red velvet-lined beautiful silk embroidered cardboard box that measures approximately 9 ¼” by 3 ½” and is secured with two toggle fasteners.
The three wooden black lacquered display stands measure approximately 5 ¾” by 3” and are used for displaying the outstretched fans.
One set of instructions is included explaining the ‘how to’ for attaching the fans to the stands.
Each of these decorative fan sets are in very good condition and appear to have never been used.
One of the gift boxes has a slight indention in the base, but otherwise there is no other evidence of damage.  This stunning decorative fan grouping, in original gift boxes, would make an attractive display on its own or as part of a collection.
    Note:
Hand fans are an important Japanese symbol.
They were used in religious ceremonies, in theatrical performances, by Geisha dancers, by warriors, by children as a toy and for the simple use of fanning oneself.
An interesting belief is that the top of the fan handle symbolizes the beginning of life and the ribs of the fan stand for the roads in life radiating out in all directions.
