    Description

The blade is very nice and bright. No maker marks on the ricasso. Leather washer is present. Most of the leather remains on the grip. Some flaking and loss of original leather finish on the grip which is common on these swords. Brass wire is present and tight. Lots of nicks, scuffs, and scratches on the brass knuckle bow.
Scabbard is missing the throat. It has number on it. It has turned grey and has very light oxidation. White paint museum identification on it.
I bought this sword from an auction house in Nevada. It had a set model 1875 sword hangers attached to the scabbard that I wanted. The sword was advertised as an original pattern 1860 civil war sword that came from a closed museum. It definitely looks authentic. However, I believe it may be an early reproduction.
