Korean Antique Armoire

Description

An elegant antique Korean manufactured armoire purchased in 1986 in Seoul Korea.
The armoire features multiple drawers and portals for every-day storage.
According to the previous owner, the armoire was most likely made in the early 60s.
I do not know what kind of wood it is made of, but it looks like perhaps Pine.
The front façade of the armoire is a made of a pine gloss like veneer, beautifully preserved with little imperfections to the front of the armoire.
Overall, in fine condition considering its age and transfer across the Pacific.
It was once used as a media center for a TV and stereo equipment so there is a small hole in the back.
Armoire can also be used as a chest of drawers for clothes.
One imperfection is the top of the armoire has a split in the wood about a quarter of an inch wide towards the back and runs from end to end.
This is due to fluctuations in humidity when the armoire was transferred to the United States in 1990.
It is not noticeable unless you stand on a chair and look down on the top because the armoire is about 62 inches tall.
Also, the split is not visible from inside the armoire as there is a solid layer of wood in between the top and the rest of the armoire.
A nice feature about this piece is that it is not ornate and outlandish in design as many pieces are from this part of Asia.

This is a wonderful simple piece of furniture that blends into a variety of décor especially for a home that does not require much furniture.
The doors and drawers of the armoire are all functional, some doors are a little bit loose, and it still has the original key however the lock does NOT work.
The drawer handles are all intact.

Large portal doors measure 18 ½ inches tall x 27 inches long
Three square portals measure 15 inches tall x 17 inches long
Three small drawers measure 3 ½ inches tall x 8 ½  inches long
Three large drawers measure 7 inches tall x 27 inches long
Depth of drawers measure about 17 inches net
