    Description

    This exquisite antique Japanese folding fan dates to the Meiji era. This rare fan is entirely made of bamboo and is double-sided with traditional Asian images. On one side, the bamboo leaf features a hand-painted scene with Mt Fuji and samurai. On the reverse, hand-painted florals and birds are displayed. The guard sticks are elaborately decorated with gold gilding. The fan is completed with metal pivots and a carrying ring. Each tip of the bamboo leaf sticks has a recurring symbol that appears to be a hand signature.
    This large fan spreads open to 30" and is 18" tall.
    It has light, normal wear. The bamboo leaf has some splits, and the Mt Fuji side has some pink bleed-through from the floral side.
